Stand Firm

In this new fast-paced world, it is so easy to be influenced by others. Everyone has a bright idea, a secret to success, a plan they need a partner for, a mission to change the world, or a desire to be bigger and better. Everyone has their own perception of life, their own understanding of people, and their own idea of sorting out conflict. What I’m trying to point out here is that everyone has something they are trying to project on to others. Everyone is trying to make a disciple of someone else. Everyone is trying to be a leader. If you are not standing firm, you’ll be carried away by the waves of others’ opinions and ideas.

Before you can stand firm, you have to have a set of values. You must have your own perception of life and people that you are at peace with. You must have your own beliefs, and your own moral code. Without any of this, you cannot stand firm on anything. But if you have this, stand firm! Don’t be anyone’s guinea pig. Don’t be the one people manipulate to fulfill their desires. Don’t be a pawn in someone else’s game. Don’t bend your values to impress someone else. Don’t bend your ideals to suit someone who has a sinister agenda. Don’t be carried away on someone else’s wave. Stand firm and make your own wave.
